The Reston Museum Collection

The Reston Museum has a collection of materials related to Reston's history, development, architecture, government, culture, and social life from 1965 to the present. These materials include planning and historical documents, newspaper articles, magazine articles, newspapers and magazines, documents relating to the civic, social and cultural life of Reston, photographs, and manuscripts.

Reston Museum's collection of over 2,000 items is fully cataloged in its "PastPerfect" database, which can be available for public access.   A sample page of the printed summary of that catalog is below; click to view the complete, searchable Archive Catalog PDF report.

A selected sample of archive items is presented in our Virtual Exhibit.

Additional collections of Reston materials are maintained by the George Mason University Library in its Planned Community Archives (GMU-PCA).
