Robert E. Simon, Jr., the founder and soul of Reston died peacefully at home on September 21, 2015. Robert E. Simon, Jr., founded Reston, one of the first master planned communities in the U.S., renowned for its innovative architecture, open space, and racial and socioeconomic diversity. Beloved in his community, Mr. Simon is remembered for his keen intelligence, wonderful wit, and spirited involvement in all aspects of Reston’s life. We all will miss him. A candlelight vigil has been organized by Tim Ward, pastor of Restoration Reston on Friday, September 25, beginning at 6:45 p.m. An official celebration of Mr. Simon's life will be organized at a later date and will be announced on our website.
