Reston Town Center
A town center was an integral piece of Robert E. Simon, Jr.’s original vision and an expected focal point of living, working and playing in Reston. Although a part of Reston’s 1962 Master Plan, Reston Town Center did not open until 1990. As late as 1972, cows were grazing on the property that would become Reston Town Center. In 2000, the 18-story One Freedom Square and 16-story Two Freedom Square west of the main plaza were constructed. Reston Town Center houses numerous shops, restaurants, living spaces and businesses as well as a pavilion for concerts in the summer and ice skating in the winter. Reston Town Center was developed by Reston Land Corporation. Original core designed by RTKL Associates.
