Named after Vernon J. Walker, Reston's first Open Space and Nature Center Director (1967-1982), this center provides environmental education for all ages and fosters good environmental stewardship in the community. Walker educated Restonians by writing Nature Newsnotes, giving workshops and providing advice. In 1975 a small building was built. The Nature House we know today opened in 2009 and located on Glade Drive. It was designed by Wayne Hughes.
